The birthday presence

It is Saturday afternoon when Eliza invited her friends for her birthday celebration which will be held on their house on the following day. She called her best friend Tricia to invite, but unfortunately, Tricia wasn’t there. So she decided to call her again later. Eliza went to the mall alone to buy a new dress and a new pair of shoes which will she use on Sunday night, her birthday. While walking, she saw a very beautiful pare of shoes. She really wants to buy that shoes but when she walked in the store and look for her size the saleslady told her tat the shoes was already sold to another lady. She stepped out the store sad. She goes around the mall, thinking that she might find another pair of the shoes she wants. But Eliza went home lonely, because she did not find another shoe which is exactly the same shoes she saw in the store. Little did she know, her friend Tricia is the one who bought the shoes she want. Little did she know that it’s Tricia’s birthday presence for her. Eliza still thinks where she could buy a shoe like what she saw on the mall. She looks at her new dress but doesn’t make her really happy. She feels that she is like a princess wearing a new dress and yet she’s wearing a very simple shoe which will not match on her dress. She already forgot to call Tricia to invite.

While Tricia is wrapping her very special gift to her best friend Eliza, she decided to write a letter for her best friend. The letter goes like this:

Hi, friend!

It’s your birthday again! Another new chapter in your life. It’s a gift from God. You should always take care of yourself. Don’t worry friend I will always be beside you, watching you in every step you take and every decision you’ll make. I’ll always send you an angel to guide you always. By the way inside the box in my birthday presence, I know you will definitely like it. I hope you’ll keep it as you have treasured our friendship. Till here friend… once more happy birthday…

Tricia put her birthday presence in to the paper bag together with her letter. She waits Eliza to call till midnight but the telephone never ring until she fall asleep. The sun had rise, and its Eliza’s birthday. Everyone is busy preparing foods, cleaning the house and setting the place. They put pink balloons and white roses around the house. Everything seems so perfect. Eliza almost forget about the shoes, she was very excited to celebrate her birthday with her friends, relatives, family and her best friend, Tricia.

Eliza called in Tricia’s house, Tricia is not feeling well but she tried to hide it to Eliza as much as she could. Tricia promises Eliza that she will be there at exactly 8:00 pm.

The most unforgettable and awaited night had come, all Eliza’s friend are already there except for one her best friend Tricia. Without Tricia, the party started. At exactly 8:00 pm, the gift of Tricia was given to Eliza. She is wondering where is Tricia then she received a text message. When she opened it, it was Tricia’s text message, saying “happy birthday Eliza, open the gift! As I promise you “I will be there”.. When you wear those things inside the box you will already feel that im with you.

When Eliza opened the box, she was surprise to see that it was the same shoes she wished to have. She was very happy for having those pair of shoes. Then after the party, she decided to call Tricia to thank for her wonderful gift. While she’s talking on the phone, her tears begin to fall down. It was Tricia’s mother saying that Tricia is gone. Without Eliza’s knowledge, Tricia was suffering from Leukemia, 3 years ago.

Eliza was shock and was crying until she saw Tricia’s letter. She read it and thinks that trivia wants her to be happy as she is now.

Then Eliza just said to herself “I’ve got the best birthday presence in my life yet I lost my precious friend, Tricia.”

Cellphone Slaves

In this day and generation, using cellphones are in demand. Especially to us,students, whop are spending much of our time texting with our best buds, talking over the phone, taking pictures, recording videos, listening to music, and many more.Aside from foods, clothes, shelter, cellphone is added to the needs of every individual. Especially to the youth. Without it, definitely, life is miserable. You’ll get bored, bored and bored.

Today, texting is really important. It is the very easy way to contact people who you need to talk to. Many students like me, text each other when we have projects to make, or homework or even when we are on are way to school so that we may know if the professor are already inside the classroom.

The worst things that may happen to a cellphone user is when you have someone to call on, but unfortunately you become Low bat or you don’t have sufficient balance to call the one you need to talk to or send a message to someone. Isn’t it horrible? I wouldn’t be able to call my friends, classmates, or even my family or even send them messages.

A student’s life today is definitely not what it was yesterday. Life can be so cruel, so boring without cellphones. Today, when I have to add up a few numbers, I reached for my phones instead of using calculators. When I have to save important messages, I get my phone to save. I also use it when I have some things to be reminded and even as my alarm clock in the morning. Also you can use it for listening music and even watching your favorite shows in television. Cellphones can also catch some of your precious memories and funny moments by means of taking pictures and recording videos. Admit it, everyone wants to have it. You can do many things you desire to do in your cellphone.

For me, the possibility that my text messaging service will be taken away from is quite scary. It’s because, texting is my way to contact my family, friends, and other people around me.

This technology has definitely brought people closer to each other. But it made us a little too dependent on technology. Now tell me, is that good or bad? I was hoping you could tell me…

The pain of losing you

I searched anywhere

It’s only now that I feel like this

I feel so lonely, its you that I miss

And now I realized that I love you so

I shouldn’t have let you go.

And now I lost my self in tears

THE CORDILLERA AUTONOMOUS REGION

As I have studied the cordillera Autonomous Region, ive learned that CAR has an abundance Literature. There are different kinds of Ethnic group residing in the Cordillera Autonomous region, such as the Ibaloy, Isneg, Tingguian, Bontoc, Ifugao, Kankanays, and the Kalinga who are good in writing Literary works. Some of their Literary Piece reveals their treditions and cultural practices. The Ibaloy people are currently residingin Baguio City. They are skilles in terrecing the mountains and planting rice. They are also skilled in playing musical instruments. The ibaloy literature are very interesting and entertaining. Some of its are written in the book and all expresses a good literary value. Ibaloys are good in writing Literary piece in which they reveals some of their cultural practices. Another group of people in CAR region are the Isnegs who described as kind, hospitable, and generous. They lived in the provinhces of Kalinga and Apayao. They are rich twith folk riddles. Isnegs are also good in making Literary works such as fables and riddles which is really ninteresting and knowledgeable. One of the Isneg's Literature is the judge and the fly which is really entertaining. The Tingguian people are another residents of CAR region who are occupying the province of Abra. They are skilles in writing good Literary works. One of the best literary piece ive read in the book is the literary work m ade by the Tingguian people. It is entitled as The Great Tingguian Flood Myth. It was really very interesting and entertaing at the same time. It is a story about the a hero god who went down to the lowlands. I can say that the readers will surely like it too. The next one are the people from the Central Cordillera Mountains, they are the Ifugao. Agriculture is their main source of living. They are skilled in hunting and planting. Also they are skilled in writing literature. One of their good Literary piece is the Hudhud hi Aliguyon. And im glad to know that this literary work from Ifugao people are recognized as the Masterpiece of the Oral and intangible heritage of humanity. It was a story of two fighters who then became friends after fighting so long. Ifugao people has just made a good literary work that is very interesting and entertaining. The people who are occupying the Mountain Province are known as the Bontocs. Their main agricultural product is the rice. They are engage in fishing and different activities. They believe in anitos and spirits and their God is Lumawig. They are also good in writing literary works, in fact one of the great story ive read is the story of their God and culture hero.This story tacles different religious and cultural practices. The kankanays is another ethnic people who are the 3rd largest cultural community in Mountain Province. They Practice monogamous relationship. They have abundant collections of epics and also riddles. I find quite interesting their some stories because it is very short and unexciting. The last group of people in the CAR region are the Kalinga. They developed swidden Farming, wet rice cultivation and Terrace Farming. But aside from doing asricultural woks, the Kalinga are rich in Literature. Their Literature are consist of riddles, myths,legends, and epics. One of the most entertaining and exciting story is the story of Banna. It is very amazing and entertaining. Most of the stories made from the people in different regions are valuable. They must be preserve and recommend to other people.

Critique about the Story of Biag ni Lam-ang

This story is about a person with super natural characteristics. It is very amazing, adventurous and quite interesting. Biag Ni Lam-ang is a Pre Hispanic poem of Ilocano people from the Ilocos Region. It is about a very strange child who could already talk at the moment he was born. He also chooses the name Lam-ang to be his name and also his baptismal sponsor. He is the son of Namongan and Don Juan Panganiban. Namongan was a very loving, kind and responsible mother while Don Juan is a very brave man. At the time of Namonga's birth, Don Juan goes to his future parents in law. And so they get married. When the time come that Lam- ang have to the mountains to punish an Igorot band. When Lam-ang turns nine months old he decided to follow his father. While he is traveling, he had a bad dream about his father. Lam-ang grew angry and went up to the mountains as fast as he could. When he finally arrived there, he saw a band of Igorots celebrating around the severe head of his father. He killed them all. When he returned to Nalbuan several women wash his body in a river.

Later on, Lam-ang fell in love with a beautiful, young lady, Ines Cannoyan. He decided to court her. On his way, he meets Sumarang an aggressive suitor of Ines Cannoyan. He slew Sumarang and asks Ines to marry him. But the parents of Ines said that they would bestow the hand of Ines if the suitors could equal their wealth so Lam- ang went home. When he returned to Kalanutian he brings with him a vessel of gold which is more than matched the wealth of catch the fish Berakan, he has a premonition that he will die. And just as he said, Lam-ang was swallowed by a giant fish. Ines was very sad but after all Lam-ang rose again by the help of the rooster and dog.

At the last part of this story, it seems very unbelievable because he lives again just after the rooster crowl and the dog growl. It's quite interesting because the characters showed different types of personality especially the main character Lam-Ang who shows great braveness and strength. And also the love they have for each other.

My Autobiography

Simply me...

I do not desire to be a supermodel someday, nor an artist or even a princess who's wearing a crown. I just want to be a simple person living a simple life with good job and a family that sharing one's happiness.

By the way, I am Angeline O. Mariano, gheline or ghel for short, an 18 years old student in Rizal Technological University. I am now a 3rd year college student, taking up the course of Bachelor of Science in Office Administration major in Office Management. I am currently residing at Blk.7 Bliss Compound Brgy. Mauway Mandaluyong City. I am the Eldest among the 3 siblings of Mr. Abundio and Nerissa O. Mariano. I have one brother and one sister namely Angelo O. Mariano and the youngest is Ailyn O. Marian0. My father is a Government Employee in DSWD and my mother is a housewife.

I considered myself as one of the most simple human beings created by God. I hate putting up make-ups or a lip stick. Im contented with what I am now. For me, to be with my family is the best thing I could have in my life. I love collecting bags and shoes. That are one of the things that makes me happy. I guess all girls loves it too. I also love watching movie, listening to music and of course eating. What I hated most is those people who are liers. I also hate those people who are very boastful and judgmental. I think the world will be more peaceful without those bad persons walking in our way.

I am a person you can easily get along with. You can always count on me and rely on me all the times. I see to it that I am always there for my friends even if it is in good times or bad times. I always want to make them feel special whenever they are with me. I'm a very jolly person. When I see Happy people especially those who are near in my heart my heart is also filled with joy.

I'm a very simple person, little things can make me smile. I dont want to make things harder. Especially when I have some serious problems. I always see to it that I am Strong enough to face every problems that comes my way. Sometimes I consult my parents or friends about some of my problems. I also ask for their opinions. But of course beforte I make a steps I always Pray for God's Guidance.

I am just a Human being who are also looking for one true happiness and an everlasting love. Just like other people.
